GEDCOM import from ancestry.com

Aldfaer accepts versions 5.5. and 5.5.1
Version 7 is just recently released and as far as I know, no suplier of genealogy software is ready to use that one.

A statement like "using standard gedcom" is ridiculous. They should be able to identify which release is being used. If they're unable to identify the releace being used..... Suggest you insist on getting a serious answer.

Aldfaer does not support the gedcom construction being used whereby (1) an object is defined in the FAM segment and (2) the FILE tag does not have a proper filename specified.
Within the " 0 @ xx@ OBJE " segment I find no filename or is this their indication for a filename??

That seems to me an internal reference to a file which is coupled to an Ancestry on-line account.

I would recommend to try importing a gedcom without photo-material or find another method for a gedcom for external use.

@Daniel,

Can't you import your Gedcom into another familytree-software and than do an export from that software, and finaly import this exported file in Aldfaer.

It's just a suggestion.
